We have been reviewing our urgent care services in Dartford, Gravesham and Swanley over the past couple of years. Thank you for your interest in this so far.
You may recall that we spoke to local people about our plans to create an Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) as required by NHS England.
A UTC would treat minor illness and injuries for all ages and form a key part of our urgent care services.
This is part of the national strategy to improve urgent and emergency care and make it easier for people to understand what services are available to them.
The UTC brings services together including:
- our Walk in Centre, which provides urgent GP appointments to people from across Dartford, Gravesham and Swanley.
- This is currently located at the White Horse GP Surgery at Fleet Health Campus, Vale Road, Northfleet
- the Minor Injuries Unit at Gravesham Community Hospital
GP out of hours services
Last year we were considering creating the UTC at Gravesham Community Hospital, relocating the Walk in Centre alongside the Minor Injuries Unit.
We asked local people what they thought about this proposal and they were largely in favour.
You may recall that it is proposed that the Fleet Healthcare Campus in Northfleet (current home to the Walk-in Centre) be re-designed to increase primary care access over time.
We now have the opportunity to explore the option of locating a UTC at Darent Valley Hospital in Dartford.
We want to know more about what local people think about these two possibilities so we’ve launched a survey and plan to hold an event to talk to local people in more detail.
By giving your views in this early stage of exploring options, you can influence our decision making.
We plan to hold a formal public consultation in spring/summer 2019 and will provide more detailed information at that time.
In the meantime, we would be grateful if you would complete our survey and you can find out more on our website: www.dartfordgraveshamswanleyccg.nhs.uk
