Swanley Town Council

Public Inquiry

To Discuss The Town Centre Development Proposed By The Owners U & I

To all Swanley Residents

Sevenoaks District Council has reluctantly decided not to contest an appeal against its refusal of a planning application to redevelop Swanley Centre after the Government changed national planning policy.

The planning application was lodged with Sevenoaks District Council in 2017 by landowners U & I.

Their proposal was to demolish the existing centre and replace it with seven tower blocks ranging from three to 11 stories high providing 303 new homes and 4,318 square metres of commercial and retail space

While Swanley Town Council does not oppose the re-development of the town centre, it does oppose the building of an 11 storey block in the heart of the town centre and the loss of available parking spaces for public use, amongst other concerns.

A Public Meeting is now being proposed on the following dates

Tuesday 26th March – Friday 29th March 2019

Tuesday 2nd April – Wednesday 3rd April 2019

Swanley Town Council has offered the Alexandra Suite over this period to allow our residents to attend the meeting and where possible make comment.

While nothing has been confirmed as yet by the District Council we do not want you to miss out on such an important event which will determine the way the town will look for many years to come.
