Every Thursday morning a gentle wellbeing walk lasting around 30 minutes takes place in Swanley Park led by the Mayor of Swanley Councillor Lesley Dyball (pictured far right).
Around 16 – 20 people of all ages take part and then enjoy a hot drink and a chat afterwards. The initiative which takes place all over Sevenoaks District has been well received at Swanley.
Cllr Dyball said ‘it’s a great way to meet people and take a gentle stroll in our wonderful park with qualified walk leaders.
It is more about being out in the fresh air and meeting people than the distance we walk.
Swanley Park is now being run by the town council for the first time in 30 years and its visitor numbers have exceed the 400,000 a year mark with more expected this year.
The town council is set to spend around £400,000 on some major refurbishments in the park in 2019 and the award winning site will host several major events.
For anyone wishing to take up the walks and meet new people the group meet outside the café in Swanley Park at 10am every Thursday morning and no booking is required.
